At Sandoval Lake
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Anaconda Jungle Lodge
Transfer from Puerto Maldonado airport to Anaconda Jungle Lodge in Puerto Maldonado. After lunch and a brief rest, we do a walk in the forest next to the swamp palm forest, where we are going to see birds and probably same group of monkeys. We return to the lodge around nightfall for dinner.
Day 2: Puerto Maldonado - Lake Sandoval
Transfer from the Lodge to the river port on the Madre de Dios River. Then we are going to take a motor canoe for 30 minutes journey down the Madre de Dios River. We walk from here to the Sandoval Lake for 1 hour approximately, 2-mile walk inside the forest, arriving to the small canal of the lake, where we board a canoe and we paddle around the lake. Where we are going to look for the 5 species of monkeys that live near the lake, such as Squirrel and Brown Capuchin, and try to see the Black Caiman.
This large lake is a home for the most spectacular Giant Otters family, which is active fishing around the lake; we will try to see this group of otters, the birds like Hoatzin and herons around the lake make this place unique with a concentration of wildlife.
We are going to have our Box lunch next to the Lake, in the afternoon we head back to the river, in the way the guide will explain about the forest.
We back to Puerto Maldonado by boat arriving at dusk to the Lodge.
